Attending Sessions
If you or your child has Covid or Covid symptoms, please do not attend the session. Under these circumstances, I will be happy to provide online sessions if possible and where appropriate. If I test positive for Covid I will not see you in person for your session. If I feel well enough to work, I will provide your session online if possible and where appropriate.
It is important that sessions are attended consistently and on time. If you arrive late for any reason, the session will still finish at the usual time.
Children must be accompanied to sessions and you will need to stay in the waiting room during your child's session. It will be important that I am able to contact you or a named person during your child's session, regardless of their age, in case of an emergency.
It is important you make me aware of any diagnosed medical conditions that may require intervention (e.g. allergies, asthma, epilepsy etc.).
You agree you will inform your child's GP that your child is accessing therapeutic treatment. If you do not wish to contact your child's GP, you will let me know and provide your consent that I can write to the GP, and I will need to charge for this service.
You understand that I may need to contact other professionals if I am concerned about any risk of harm issues to your child or others, and you consent that I may do so.
Holidays ~ Breaks in therapy
Planned breaks in therapy are an important part of the therapeutic process and are usually around Easter, Christmas and during the Summer. Regularity is very important in therapy, so if your holidays fall outside this, please let me know as soon as you can.
Cancellation policy
Therapy sessions will be on the same day and at the same time each week. I protect the session time we agreed for you/your child, which means I will not allocate the slot to anyone else. As a result, I reserve the right to charge the usual rate for a missed or cancelled session. If the circumstances are exceptional, I will do my best to find an alternative time during the same week. If it is not possible to find an alternative slot, the same right to charge the usual fee will apply.
If I have to cancel a session, I will advise you at the earliest opportunity. No fee will be payable in this circumstance.
Fees and Payment
One-to-one psychotherapy sessions are usually for 50 minutes and cost £80 unless agreed otherwise. Fees for all other listed services can be discussed upon enquiry.
All administrative tasks (letters, reading reports, telephone calls, preparation for and attending meetings, etc.) are charged at my usual hourly rate. Report writing is on request and the fee can be discussed upon enquiry.
Invoices to be settled within 15 days of issue unless otherwise agreed in writing beforehand. Payment can be made by bank transfer. In some circumstances, payment may be required in advance of your sessions.
Contact
Telephone
Should you need to contact me between sessions for any reason you feel might be helpful for me to know about (i.e., if your child is unwell or a significant change in circumstance), I am happy to be contacted by telephone for a brief conversation. However, if the issue requires more than 5 minutes, we may need to schedule an appointment for which I will need to charge my standard rate.
I encourage contact via telephone as this is the safest method to communicate. Emails are retained in the logs of Internet Service Providers and can be vulnerable to viruses and unintended forwarding or replication. If you are concerned about the confidentiality of your emails, you may wish to contact me by telephone instead.
I check emails only at fixed times, and I avoid checking them on weekends and holidays. I endeavour to respond to all emails within two working days upon opening them. If I am away for an extended period, you will receive an automated response. Emails should never be used in the event of an emergency, in which case you should contact emergency services.
Ending Therapy
Planning an Ending
Managing an ending is very important in psychotherapy, especially where the therapist and child have been meeting for some time. An abrupt ending can undermine what has been achieved in the therapy and trigger earlier unresolved losses or unexpected endings in relationships. It is important, therefore, that the therapy is not terminated without prior notice. The following notice period to end treatment applies:
If I have been meeting with your child for longer than a term, at least six weeks' notice is required to end the therapy.
A minimum of two weeks' notice is required for anything less than a term.
Agreement
You agree to the terms and conditions detailed above by continuing in therapy and attending further sessions.
